Description

The Braces were in demand across Europe from the mid-1980s to 1991. Together with Skaos and the Busters, they belonged to the first generation of Ska bands in Germany. The compilation "Skank - Licensed To Ska" (Link Records / England) was the first sign of life of the so-called third wave of Ska in 1988 and became a worldwide success. "Julie, Julie" from The Braces was one of the highlights of the coupling. In December 1988 The Braces found themselves on stage at the 1st International Ska Festival in London, with acts like Prince Buster and Bim Skala Bim. The next morning they were interviewed on the BBC’s Radio 1 breakfast show. In the next two years a successful album for the London label Unicorn and for Vielklang / Pork Pie from Berlin as well as tours across Europe followed. Then The Braces stopped. Partly because their manager went into hiding with the band's money and contracts.
