  2. Bang Girl Group Revue - Soul Shangri-La - LP (Ltd. Edition, red vinyl)

Sassy. Sultry. Sexy. Sophisticated. These are just some of the words that describe Angeline King, Tish Peterson and Rachel Mae Havens, the three vocalists who stand center stage in The Bang Girl Group Revue, the San Francisco Bay Area’s most exciting show band. And while the trio of vivacious vocalists do channel the classic sounds of the 1960s, including the Brill Building’s tales of teenage heartbreak, Tamla/Motown’s elegant RnB micro-symphonies and the foot-stomping Memphis soul of Stax, they also blend in a large measure of original songs that sound timeless but still have a timely edge.
THIS IS THE LIMITED EDITION IN RED VINYL.

  4. Bo Diddley - Go Biddley - LP

His second 1959 long-play effort only adds a go to his classic debut, refining his trademark square guitar and crazy-distorted amplification to create new sounds (anticipating the innovations of 60s rock icons like Jimi Hendrix) and his rumba-sounding, hambone-styled Bo Diddley beat. 5. King Jartur & His Lords - Searching For The Holy Grail - 7" EP

Debut 45 by KING JARTUR blasting out his sounds, his Vox backline... and of course and naturally, his perpetued friends and really good musicians Lord Pabloncelot (drums, fender piano rhodes and hammond organ) and Ferlin The Magician (thumbing at the bass-guitar and making all the magic on the mixes). Both of them, called The Lords By the King, making great backing vocals strengthen King's voices, guitar and sometimes obscure blues-harp sounds. A fuzzy over-flowing cauldron of Rude Garage-Beat and Psychedelia...

  7. Slim Smith - Let's Get Together // The Webber Sisters - My World - 7"

Hear the greatest ever singer Keith ‘Slim’ Smith lead vocalist with the Uniques vocal harmony group. ‘Lets Get Together’ is a slow, soulful slice of rock steady reminiscent of RnB singer Sam Cooke at his most moving where the late, lamented Slim wrests every last drop of emotion from a heart rending song. Slim is backed here by The Webber Sisters jaunty ‘My World’, an upbeat obscurity, on a fabulous facsimile black and orange Carifta label.
Both tunes are early productions from the legendary Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee and all are prime examples of what made rock steady so popular in the late sixties and serve to demonstrate why this music still remains totally captivating over forty years down the line.
Real cool. You can’t help but love these two rare but very groovy tunes. Comes in heavy vinyl! Mehr erfahren

  8. Uniques - Absolutely Rocksteady - LP

Easily one of the most popular and enduring vocal harmony groups of the Rocksteady era were the Uniques. Slim Smith was the catalyst for the formation of the group as well as the lead vocalist. Keith 'Slim' Smith had grown up in the West Street area of Kingston. He had formed the 'Techniques' with Winston Riley before leaving to set up the Uniques. Slim Smith had often been in direct competion with Bob Marley for the mantle of being the best lead vocalist of the Rocksteady period. “Before The Wailers hit the most popular group was The Techniques with Slim Smith…” Clement ‘Coxsone’ Dodd.
The Uniques established themselves as Jamaica’s Number One group with hits like… ‘Do Rock Steady’… ‘Let Me Go Girl’… and ‘My Conversation’. They stayed at the top of the charts.” Tony Mack
During this period Slim had developed his relationship with Producer Bunny 'Striker' Lee. Although in typical fashion still recorded for other producers like Clement Dodd at Studio One.

  9. Don T Lee - Cool Cool Rocksteady // Glen Adams - S-H-I (I'm Shocking) - 7"

Two different vocal cuts on the same rhythm. The first cut is the obscure but eccentric 'Cool Cool Rocksteady' by Don T Lee. A Rocksteady dance favourite that has a party feel to it. Don T Lee is the brother of Bunny Lee who produced both tracks. Musical backing is by the 'Bobby Aitken and The Caribs' this is an excellent Rocksteady vocal. The flip-side side features Glen Adams and Alva Lewis on vocals. Glen Adams is better known as a keyboard player and Alva 'Reggie' Lewis is better known as a guitarist. Both of these session players were versatile enough to take over the vocal duties on this witty rocksteady vocal. Again backed by Guitarist Bobby Aitken and his group. On the Carifita label in a picture sleeve bag. Mehr erfahren

  10. Eddie Perkins - I'm Coming Home // Merritone All Stars - Instrumental - 7"

Recorded in 1967 and previously unreleased material from the original master tape. This elegant but also distinctive recording is certainly incomparable to other recordings appeared during the Rocksteady era. Veteran singer, Eddie Perkins, started his career in the early 1960s and he worked with Alton Ellis as duo called Alton and Eddy.
